A 3-phase brushless motor drive scheme using Toshiba TC78B016FTG


This is a 3-phase brushless motor drive scheme based on Toshiba TC78B016FTG, which controls the speed of the brushless motor by changing the PWM duty cycle.

 Application fields: sweeping robots (side wheels), small fans used in household appliances and industrial equipment.

Product features:
1. Low noise and low vibration: Compared with square wave drive, sine wave drive motors have lower noise and vibration;
2. Low power consumption: Due to the small output resistance of the driver chip, the power consumption of the chip is relatively low when the motor is operating;
3. Intelligent phase control: Automatically adjust the phase of motor voltage and motor current to achieve optimal efficiency;
4. Working voltage range: 13.5V-16.8V, maximum working current: 2.5A;
5. Control the motor speed through the duty cycle PWM signal (TSP pin), with a target motor speed of 8000rpm;
6. Used for 3 Hall chips to detect and feedback position, achieving precise motor position control;
7. Smaller PCB dimensions (30mm x 23.5mm).


TC78B016FTG Features:
1. 3-phase full wave drive and sine wave PWM drive;
2. Optional LA advanced phase angle adjustment function;
3. Pulse duty cycle signal input/analog voltage input;
4. Motor start and stop: Control the motor start and stop by adjusting the TSPVSP foot;
5. Forward and reverse rotation of the motor: Control the forward and reverse rotation of the motor through CW/CCW high and low level inputs;
6. It has a speed feedback output signal FG-OUT;
7. Has a lock detection signal (LD-OUT);
8. It has functions such as overcurrent protection (ISD), overheating protection (TSD), undervoltage locking (UVLO), etc.
